The Board of Selectmen will be meeting on 2/25 @ 6:30 to interview candidates for town administrator. NOTE: The meeting will be held at Milton Access Television Studio, Pierce Middle School, 451 Central Avenue (entrance off Brook Road).
Town Administrator candidate pool back up to 4

The candidate pool of town administrator candidates is back up to 4. The Board of Selectmen had tasked the Town Administrator Search Committee to submit up to 5 candidates to the Selectmen to chose from. The committee referred 4 (view related commentary here). Since then one of the candidates, Richard Lafond of Bridgewater, withdrew his name from consideration.
Letter: Bersani offers kudos to DPW for efforts during snow storms
I would like to thank the Milton DPW for their hard work during the past to snow storms. Although the safety of all the residents was their top priority, they also made sure that I was able to reach the animal shelter to care for the animals throughout the snowstorms.

SUBJECT: Winter Storm Saturday/Sunday – The National Weather Service offices in Taunton and Albany have issued updated forecast information for the winter storm that will impact the state from Saturday afternoon into Sunday. While there is a high level of confidence that a strong storm will impact the state, there is still a good deal of uncertainty on the location of the rain/snow line and the amount of snow.

Warrant Committee votes budget recommendations & allocations

It took the Warrant Committee two nights to get through their annual “all day” meeting. The meeting was pushed from its traditional Saturday to last Monday and Wednesday evenings. The sessions were arduous. In the end the committee voted on budgets, one time allocations for departments, and articles requiring appropriations. Here are some highlights:

Movie critics Ty Burr (Boston Globe) and Wesley Morris (Grantland) gave their picks for the Academy Awards in a light hearted and humorous manner at the MPL last night. They didn’t agree on much except Daniel Day Lewis being a lock for best actor. Among other observations was the fact that the Academy is largely run by white men over 50 to which a person behind us quipped, “Sounds like Milton.” Click “Read more for additional snapshots.

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center which acquired Milton Hospital early last year has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with New England Baptist Hospital according to a letter from Dr. Kevin Tabb, CEO of BIDMC. The letter states that it is not a merger but a collaborative effort to explore how a partnership could benefit their respective patients and communities.
Early-morning blaze forces East Milton family from home

An early morning house fire left an East Milton home with extensive damage.
Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Mahoney said the blaze at 33 Pilgrim Road was reported at 3:18 a.m. Wednesday by the occupants. The fire started on the rear deck of the single-family house and spread to the first-floor walls and ceiling. (Read the full story here.)
