Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center which acquired Milton Hospital early last year has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with New England Baptist Hospital according to a letter from Dr. Kevin Tabb, CEO of BIDMC. The letter states that it is not a merger but a collaborative effort to explore how a partnership could benefit their respective patients and communities.
Dr. Tabb writes, “We are very excited about the possibilities of this partnership. One of the strategic initiatives of BIDMC is to expand and strengthen our network of partnerships and relationships with other high quality health care organizations. It is part of our strategic imperative to rethink how we deliver care to patients in light of the rapid and fundamental changes in health care.”

It appears another historic location may be sold. It is rumored a Purchase & Sale is pending for the Milton Woman’s Club on Reedsdale Road. There was no answer at the Women’s Club yesterday which is primarily rented out for functions and is perhaps best known as the venue for the Milton Players, a local organization that promotes and produces theater productions. There are limits on what existing zoning would permit there. The lot might allow for up to 5 homes. Other properties with proposals in development are the old St Elizatbeth’s rectory (Howe House) for a hospice facility, Horseplay stables for assisted living development, and the old DeWolfe building for law offices.
