Fifty years ago, President John F. Kennedy proclaimed May 15 of each year Peace Officers Memorial Day in honor of federal, state, and municipal officers killed or disabled in the line of duty.
Fuller Village held their Olympics this past week. Athletes competed in swimming, track, and cribbage among other events. The awards ceremony held Friday afternoon was a tribute both to the athletes and their community, one characterized by an extraordinary sense of camaraderie, courtesy, and warmth.

The Cessna single-engine airplane, which residents have captured in photos, has been flying overhead for weeks, turning circles around the Quincy and Milton air space. (Read the full story here.)

If the founding of the New England Revolution back in the mid-1990’s was the first step towards professional soccer in the region, then chapter two of the story surely begins this month in Easton, Mass, when the Real Boston Rams take the stage for what has become one of the most anticipated soccer ventures of recent years.
Milton High School and the Pierce Middle School will be hosting their annual spring concerts this week. These concerts are always great fun and we encourage you to go, enjoy the show and support the students. The MHS concert will be a bittersweet moment for many of us. Ms. Patricia Ostrem, who has taught strings to so many of our children (and us) for so long and so well, is retiring at the end of the school year. The HS concert is on Weds May 15 @ 7:00pm. There are two Pierce Concerts, May 21 and 23 both @ 7:00pm.

The Board of Selectmen started their term last week with a new member, a new chair, and a new approach. Issues that came up included but were not limited to a discussion of Milton Mews, a review of the lease for the Milton Art Center, and a look at the articles for Town Meeting.
Recently, Senator Brian A. Joyce was joined by his father, Jerry, Milton Council of Aging (COA) Director Mary Ann Sullivan, and 19 Milton residents affiliated with the COA for a personal tour of the State House. The group learned about the history of the building, sat at Representatives’ desks in the House Chamber, and were recognized on the floor of the Senate by Senate President Therese Murray.
