The Forbes House Museum will hold a Spring Dragon Boat Cocktail Party and Auction on Saturday, 8 June, from 6-8pm at an elegant home on 88 Milton Street, Milton. The evening will feature cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and a tasteful silent auction.  all to benefit the Forbes House Museum.

The FHM Spring Benefit is an annual fundraising event that supports the museum’s programs, collection, building and grounds.

The event will be held at 88 Milton Street, a beautiful 23 room estate built in 1912. This architecturally unique home draws on the rage for Colonial Revival architecture and the plans and arrangement of the famed Petit Trianon at the Palace of Versailles. It was augmented in the 1950s with museum-quality, antique fittings and fixtures attributed to the 5th Avenue mansion of William Henry Vanderbilt. This year’s theme for the FHM Spring Benefit is the Dragon Boat Festival. Traditionally commemorating the death of the beloved Chinese poet-patriot Qu Yuan in 200 B.C. the Dragon Boat Festival is an annual event celebrated the first weekend in June in Chinese communities around the globe. The Boston Dragon Boat Festival, which takes place the same weekend as our benefit, is the largest Asian-American cultural event in New England, drawing over 20,000 participants and spectators. The Boston Dragon Boat Festival fosters learning and exploration of New England’s diverse multi-cultural heritage, especially Asian-American heritage.
