Tammy Murphy announces her candidacy for Town Meeting Member in Precinct One. Murphy lives at 63 Concord Avenue with her husband Tim, three year old daughter Bella, and two dogs. She holds a Ph.D. in economics, and is on the economics department faculty at UMass-Boston, specializing in environmental and natural resource economics.

Murphy and her husband bought their first home, on Concord Avenue in 2005, after being delighted to discover the Precinct One neighborhood. After many moves earlier in their careers, the Murphys were pleased to find a neighborhood where they could settle in and raise their family in a residential, diverse neighborhood, with such proximity to the treasure of the Blue Hills, and a strong public school system.

Murphy became a Conservation Commissioner for the Town of Milton in 2009. She also served as a neighborhood representative on an Advisory Committee to the Planning Board in 2009 and is a member of the Tucker Neighborhood Association. As a Town Meeting Member, her goals include the preservation of neighborhood communities and open space, while approaching the public policy decision-making process in an informed, empirically based manner, with an eye to financial responsibility and accountability.

She invites town residents to email her with questions or concerns at tammybmurphy@gmail.com.
