New date for Run Milton – half maraton to benefit COA

Run Milton Will Bring Running Community Together to Support the Friends of the Milton Council on Aging Transportation Fund

After speaking with the Milton Police Department, the Run Milton Committee has decided to postpone this year’s half-marathon event to Sunday, Oct. 4 (from April 12). This decision was based on our concerns about the toll this past winter has taken on the roads of the running route.  The safety of our runners, as well as our volunteers and spectators, is our number one priority. We know our event will be even better if we allow the town time to repair potholes and roads.

This town-wide race will start at 8 a.m. ET on Oct. 4, and our Racewire registration site has been updated to reflect this date change. You can register at here. The 13.1-mile course starts and finishes near the Milton Town Hall. The registration fee is $55 per person. Registration will close on Saturday, Oct. 3.

The event is a fundraiser for the Friends of the Milton Council on Aging (COA) Transportation Fund, which helps cover the cost of transporting seniors to medical appointments, grocery shopping and activities at the Senior Center. Net proceeds will be donated to the organization.

In case you missed it, Run Milton was just named by the Milton Times as the “Best Annual Event in Milton” for 2014, our inaugural year. We also were honored last month by the South Shore Road Race Guide with the “Best First Year Race” award, which was voted on by members of the running community for the “Best of 2014.”
