Second Annual Fundraising Event on April 12 Will Bring Running Community Together to Support the Friends of the Milton Council on Aging Transportation Fund
Registration for the second annual Run Milton Half-Marathon is now open. This town-wide race will take place in Milton, Mass., on Sunday, April 12, at 8 a.m. ET. Runners are expected to participate from Milton, Boston, communities on the South Shore and beyond. The 13.1-mile course starts and finishes near the Milton Town Hall. Interested participants can register online at http://racewire.com/event.php?id=2758. The registration fee is $55 per person. Registration will close on Saturday, April 11, at 10 p.m. ET.
The event is a fundraiser for the Friends of the Milton Council on Aging (COA) Transportation Fund, which helps cover the cost of transporting seniors to medical appointments, grocery shopping and activities at the Senior Center. Net proceeds will be donated to the organization.
“We had fantastic success with our Run Milton Half-Marathon this past April, bringing our community together to watch neighbors test their physical limit while raising funds for our seniors, who’ve given so much of their time, money and dedication to our town over the years,” said Maureen Conlon, Run Milton race director and owner of Milton Boot Camp. “The funds we raise will make a real impact in our town by enabling our seniors to have greater access to the COA vans. Many Milton seniors literally can’t get to their doctors without a ride through the Milton COA van transportation program. The money we raise will help underwrite the cost to provide this service.”
In addition to running the race, sponsorship opportunities are available for individuals and businesses in the area.
