Six Milton High School students were recently notified by the National Merit Scholarship Program that they have qualified as Commended Students for 2015.
Olivia Erickson, William Hess, Christian Kackley, Oceane Marescal, Shane McLaughlin and Emma Pred-Sosa, all of whom are 12th-graders at Milton High School, scored among the top 5% of the 1.5 million students who took the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) last spring.
“This is an outstanding achievement by our students, who have been commended by this prestigious program,” said Karen Cahill, Director of Guidance. “These six students have distinguished themselves, not only from an academically strong class of seniors at Milton High School this year, but also from their peers nationwide.”
Each of these students has received a Letter of Commendation from the Milton High School and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
“The young men and women being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” said a spokesperson for the program. “These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.”
