Town Hall notice: Residential Property Inspections Underway

Notice from Town Hall

Representatives of Patriot Properties Inc. are in the process of inspecting all properties in Milton. The Board of Assessors has contracted with the Massachusetts firm for a three year inspection program of all classes of property required by statute
to be completed for the fiscal 2016 revaluation. As a part of this revaluation cycle, the Department of Revenue requires that all properties be visited and reviewed for accuracy. The last time a town wide inspection was conducted was in 2006. Property inspectors will be checking exterior building measurements and conduct an interior inventory of the number of rooms, plumbing, heating, fireplaces interior finish and over all condition etc. The inspectors will only be recording property characteristics and will not be making value judgments.

The town has been required to conduct a full revaluation every three years since 1982 with town wide inspections required every nine or ten years. Patriot personnel will be carrying Patriot Properties identification cards and a letter
of introduction from the Board of Assessors. Please contact the Assessors’ Office at 617-898-4863 with any questions.
