The Friends of the Blue Hills will mark their 35th year at their Annual Celebration on Thursday, October 9, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Fuller Village. Tickets to the event are $35 if purchased by October 3 and $40 at the door and are available at www.FriendsoftheBlueHills.org/celebrate35. The evening will include hors d’oeuvres, silent auction, a special 35th year retrospective, and the presentation of the Community Partners Awards.
Two of the four award recipients have local ties. Fred and Libby Eustis preserved their Canton Avenue estate that borders the Blue Hills by selling it to Historic New England, and the Milton Junior Woman’s Club provided a $2,500 start up grant to the FBH to launch Peek a Blue Hikes this spring. “We so are pleased to be recognized at this event,” said Trish Babb, the president of the MJWC. “Our mission is to provide women with an opportunity to socialize and make a difference in our community and in the lives of others through our scholarships and grants programs. We are proud to partner with FBH on Peek a Blue Hikes, which have introduced many parents and their children to the wonders of the Blue Hills.”
There will also be a special raffle as part of the festivities: a once-in-a-lifetime dinner for six at the top of the Blue Hills Observatory, the oldest continually operating weather observatory in the country. The winner will enjoy breathtaking views of the Boston skyline and the ocean while dining on an elegant meal catered by the popular restaurant Steel & Rye, which was recently named “Best of Boston- South” by Boston Magazine. Tickets for the raffle are $15 each or 3/$35 and can also be purchased on the Friends of the Blue Hills website.
