Senate Bill provides $929,915 in Road Funding for Milton; but what will Gov do?

by Frank Schroth

The Massachusetts Senate passed a $300 million Chapter 90 bill a 50 percent increase over previous year. Senator Brian A. Joyce was among those who voted in favor of the bill. Chapter 90 funding provides a significant amount of the money Milton has to repair and maintain its roads. The increase is significant and needed. Milton’s allocation of $929,915 is an increase of $309,972. Senator Joyce stated, “This investment in state road, bridge, and rail transportation projects is important for our continued commercial vitality, and the Chapter 90 funds will provide for much needed infrastructure repairs throughout the district,” said Joyce. “These funds will go directly to the repair and maintenance of the streets and bridges we drive on every day.”

However the Patriot Ledger reports that it is unclear whether Governor Patrick will sign the bill. HIs concern stems from the uncertainty of legislature passing the pending transportation package. You can find the Ledger article here.
