Letter: Improvements sought to Milton Riverwalk

To: Ms. Kathy Bowen, senior administrative clerk, Mr. John Kiernan, chair, Milton Conservation Commission

Tonight I attended the Conservation Commission meeting wishing to comment on the Milton Riverwalk at the Landing.
Since I was unable to find the right context for appropriate comment, I am writing to you all now.

The citizens of Milton deserve your support for opening our access to the Dorchester side of the Neponset River.

As you know, the 88 Wharf condominium association built an obstructive gate and inserted tree/shrub planting to disallow access to the old railroad bridge which had been part of an access plan during its original construction project.
Additionally, the bridge requires repairs for safe passage by foot. Today, it is a dead-end.

I encourage you to view these photos that I took tonight (before the meeting), so you can easily see the benefit to our citizens for completion of this Milton Riverwalk connection.

I am a life-long hiker and boater, having begun canoeing in the Neponset over 25 years ago.
I urge your support to bring this issue and project to closure.
