Unfortunately, I couldn’t make the night out hosted by The Milton Police Department; but I think everyone else in town went. Judging by the crowds, it was a great community builing event and they deserve a hearty thank you.
I had a meeting at town hall and had to park near Turner’s Pond (ok, slight exageration). However, we did have a situation on our street about a week ago and I can say that the members of the force who arrived to deal with it were professional and sensitive. They were just great and that is not an exageration.
There is a story in today’s Wicked Local that estimated the crowd at 500 (see below) – a Facebook post from the MPD had it at about 1500 (also below) which, based on my luck finding a parking space, is probably the more accurate.
On my way into Town Hall I did pass people coming and going and they were all smiling.

Roughly 500 people came to Milton Police Headquarters for National Night Out.
National Night Out is a nationwide program designed to improve relationships between police departments and the communities they serve. (Read the full story here.)
And the MPD administration had this to say, “VERY SPECIAL THANKS to all of the men and women of the Department who worked SO hard tonight to make your trip to the MPD’s NNO a memorable event. They are an excellent group of hardworking individuals. Tonight you saw them in t-shirts and shorts, serving as gracious hosts. They care about this community and work each day to make Milton a safe place. A job well done to each of them!!
