from the Milton Public Schools
Milton School Committee Member Christopher Huban, who has served as a member of the school committee for 12 years, was honored at a small reception before Wednesday night’s meeting.
Mr. Huban was first elected to the school committee in 1999 and has twice served as chairman. He chose not to seek reelection in the upcoming April town elections.
At the reception, Mr. Huban was treated to a recorded video message from his daughter, who is on a school trip to France; a “top 12” list of memorable moments from his school committee days; and heartfelt words of support and gratitude from Superintendent Mary Gormley and Milton School Committee Chairperson Lynda-Lee Sheridan.
“We always knew where you stood,” said Superintendent Gormley. “And though we didn’t always agree on every issue, I admired your dedication and I appreciated your support.”
Mr. Huban was also presented with an American flag, which will be flown at Brooks Field in his honor; a commendation from the Massachusetts legislature read by State Senator Brian A. Joyce; and a reading lamp with the Town of Milton insignia.
“I can only say how very grateful I was to have had this opportunity to serve the students and teachers of the Milton Public Schools,” said Mr. Huban. “It was truly an honor.”
