from The Forbes House Museum
On Monday, 21 March 2011, Forbes House Museum welcomed a very special guest, the Museum’s founder, Dr. H. A. Crosby Forbes. Dr. Forbes, great grandson of Captain Robert Bennet Forbes, had a long and distinguished career as the founder of the Museum of the American China Trade (later named the Forbes House Museum), and Curator of Asian Export Art at Peabody Essex Museum, Salem.
Crosby joined the staff for tea and lunch. He spent some time viewing the galleries, recounting his family history, and talking about his long museum career. He commented that the museum looked great, and urged the staff to continue serving the public with programs and exhibits!
An interview with Dr. Forbes was conducted by Claudia Woods, Principal of CBC Associates Inc., a long-time friend of Crosby’s; the interview was video taped by Dr. Forbes’s own son, Douglas Forbes, a professional videographer based in New York City.
The interview will be available for viewing later this year as part of a celebration of Dr. Forbes’s accomplishments.
