from the candidate
I am pleased to announce that I am a candidate for Selectman in Milton’s April 26 election. I decided to run for Selectman first and foremost because I am a lifelong resident of Milton and am proud to call myself a resident of the Town. Milton has a lot to offer its residents and has given me much during the many years that I have lived here. I graduated from Milton High School. My wife Kathie grew up in Milton and graduated from Jean D ‘Arc Academy. We raised our two children in Milton. I want to give something back to the Town and I believe that I have unique qualifications to serve as your Selectman.
I chaired the Warrant Committee for two years and took a leadership role in guiding the Town’s finances during the recent recession. That experience helped me to acquire a thorough understanding of the Town’s operating and capital budgets and the needs of the Town’s departments. This year, I am stepping down after six years as a Warrant Committee member. I also represent the residents of Precinct 5 as a Town Meeting Member.
In addition to my service to the Town, my business and management experience makes me the right candidate for Selectman. I am a certified public accountant and the owner of a successful small business in Quincy that employs twenty people. My accounting work often involves municipal finance and tax issues. My educational qualifications include a BS degree from Northeastern University and a Master’s Degree in Taxation from Bentley College.
There has been a spirit of cooperation among all of the departments in Town in recent years. I believe that it is essential that this spirit of cooperation continue. In both my business and my volunteer service to the Town, I have demonstrated the ability to bring together people with diverse interests to work toward a common cause. I have the experience, the drive and the compassion that it takes to help lead our Town during the next three challenging years.
I respectfully ask for your vote for Selectman on April 26.
