Summer Discovery Arts! Weekly summer workshops for children entering 5th grade and older.

A summer art program with strong literacy emphasis and featuring week long, intensive exploration of various art techniques. You can find  alist of workshops here.

Each weeklong intensive workshop will incorporate drawing and painting in the field. These sketches will be used as inspirations to develop ideas in the medium being explored. Each child will complete at least one finished piece. The week will also include daily literacy time in which children will independently read and engage in a creative writing activity. The literacy work will culminate in a final publication celebrating some of our written and visual work. In addition, there will be one or two field trip days to a museum or artist’s studio, which will connect our study to the work of artists. Our summer days would not be complete without some outdoor fun & games, swimming, or sprinkler activities. Some creative craft activities will also be explored as transitions take place throughout the day.
