Updated: Candidates file papers; election is April 26th

Candidates for town office had to submit their nomination papers to the Town Clerk’s office Tuesday 3/8 by 5:00pm. Candidates for town wide office require 50 qualified signatures (ie residents registered to vote in Milton) and Town Meeting Members require 10 (these need to be from the precinct in which they reside). The town wide offices that are being contested are for Board of Selectmen, Library Board of Trustees, Cemetary Trustees, and Board of Assessors.

Richard Livingston and Tom Hurley will square off in the race for the open Selectmen’s seat.

There are 5 candidates contesting for 3 open seats on the Library Board of Trustees. They are: Ray Czwakiel, Mary Hiss, Kristine Hodlin, Frank Schroth (yes, that’s me), and Paul Yovino.

Two candidates, Barbara Martin and Thomas Stanton, will be vying ro one seat on the Trustees of the Cemetary. And James Henderson will be challengingn incumbent Joseph Manning on the Board of Assessors.Mr. Henderson ran along with Todd Greenwood in challenging incumbent Kathleen Heffernan.  Heffernan retained her seat.

In addition Emily Innes is running uncontested to retain her seat on the Milton Planning Board. This is also true of Kristen Bagley-Jones who is running for re-election to the School Committee unopposed. The other candidate for School Committee is Leroy Walker. He will take Chris Huban’s seat. Mr. Huban is retiring from the committee.
