The Milton Board of Health is postponing the Seasonal Flu Clinics scheduled for October 22nd at Cunningham Park and October 27th at the Council On Aging due to delays associated with the distribution of the vaccine from the manufacturers.

____There will be a special Town Meeting held at the Milton High School Auditorium on Monday, October 19th @ 7:30pm.
There are three articles in the warrant:
- a vote to cut the town budget by $331,000 to make up for state short falls. The police budget would lose $176,000 and the schools $111,000.
- a vote to authorize borrowing funds to support the rehabilitation of a Milton fire fighters medical care
- a vote to impose a meals tax on local restaurants

I recently visited Brookwood Community Farm in Milton and was impressed that this is what we need more of. It was created in 2006 to build community through the endeavor of growing food. Co-founders Judy Lieberman and Mark Smith saw the potential of Brookwood Farm – a 75-acre dormant farm in the Blue Hills Reservation managed by the Dept. of Conservation and Recreation – to play a significant role in creating a more local and sustainable food system. Sometimes it is the little things that make such a difference. Wicked Local Bridgewater has an article today about how Milton’s animal control officer and the Milton Animal Shelter rescued a Great Dane found wandering in the Blue Hills and found his owners. The dog was returned almost a month after it had gone missing and was 30 miles from home. You can read the full story here.

An assistant clerk magistrate closed a hearing on a criminal complaint Quincy police are seeking against a high-ranking Milton police officer who is accused of assaulting a woman.
The hearing that was scheduled for Brockton District Court on Tuesday was later postponed, however, because there was no prosecutor. (Read the full story here.)
