MHS Bulletin for 10.15.09

  • Mini Fair: Today, Milton High will host the final Mini Fair during B period from 8:40 to 9:32. Juniors and Seniors will need permission slips signed by their B period teachers. Forty-two colleges will be represented. A listing is posted outside Guidance and the Main Office. Permission slips are available in Guidance.
  • National Honor Society:  Attention all National Honor Society Members! There will be a meeting after school today in the cafeteria to hold speeches and elections for officers.
  • Photography Club: There will be a meeting today in room 211. Bring in your twenty best pictures from the Houghton’s Pond photo shoot. Bring in new photo shoot locations ideas. New Members always welcome.
  • Debate Team: There will be a Debate Team meeting today in room 212. We will be discussing our vision for competing this winter. There are events to match all interests.
  • Sewing Club: The Sewing Club will meet today from 2:30 to 3:30 in room 243. New members always welcome.
  • Advanced Placement: Students are reminded that payments for the AP Exams are due in guidance by Friday, October 16. All students who are enrolled in AP courses are required to take the exam. Students who have not registered will be moved to honors level. Checks (for $86 per exam) should be made payable to Milton High School; those paying with cash will receive a receipt.
  • Outdoors Club: There has been a change to the Outdoors Club’s plan for
  • Mount Monadknock. Students will travel in a bus, and the new cost for the trip will be $6.00. Permission slips are still due no later than October 19th. Students who fail to submit their permission slips by Monday will be ineligible for the trip.
  • Book Club: Come to the next Book Club meeting on Monday Oct. 19th. We will be discussing Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Alborn. New members always welcome!
  • Amnesty International: The Write-a-thon is Scheduled for Thursday the 22nd 6:30 to 8:30 in the Teachers Lounge. New Members welcome!
  • Fall Fling: Are you coming to the Fall Fling? It’s Tuesday, November 10 (no school the next day). The cost is $22, payable only by check (made out to MHS) from you or your parent/guardian. You may purchase one or two tickets, and you must sign a notice of consent at the point of purchase. Tickets may be purchased after school in room 222. Consult flyers or Ms. Crowley with questions.
  • Senior Candids: Any seniors interested in submitting candid photo’s for the yearbook may do so in the facebook group “Yearbook Candids 2010”. If you do not have a facebook account, you may give a photo to be scanned to Ms. McDonough or Mrs. Burns. The pictures must be appropriate for the yearbook and the administration and faculty will have access to viewing the facebook page.
  • Key Club: October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Key Club is raising money for the Breast Cancer Foundation through the sale of long sleeve shirts with a special logo. The shirts are $15.00 and will be sold at lunches. $8.50 from the sale of each shirt will go to the foundation. For more

  • Employment Opportunity: Papa Gino’s at 748 Gallivan Blvd in Dorchester is looking for help after school and on weekends. Any student who is interested may call Jason or Rosie at 617-282-2404 to arrange an interview.

Community Service Opportunities

Community service forms are located in the Main Office.

  • Carriage House: The Carriage House School is looking for help at its Halloween Festival on October 24th from 9am-3pm. See Ms. Wright to sign up.
  • Tucker After School Program: The Tucker After School Program is accepting used Legos.  If you would like to earn community service hours please donate!!! See Amanda Giammarco or Vincent Ryan for details.

Completed service forms should be given to your Guidance Counselor.
