Frank Shirley runs what is called the “brace shop” at Milton Hospital. It’s a small basement workshop that makes orthotic braces and prosthetic limbs for people with amputations and other injuries. He says the equipment here is very similar to the equipment found at the orthotic and prosthetic lab where he volunteers in Haiti. (Read the full story here.)

Rainfall for March at the Blue Hill Observatory set a record of 18.81 inches, the most for any month since record-keeping began in 1885. The old record was 18.78 inches in August 1955. (Read the full story here.)
