Kids, farms, and education
There is an initiative in Milton to look at the Stoughton land (aka Town Farm) as an educational center with a farm based curriculum. At an upcoming meeting of the Board of Selectmen, likely in August, Paul Krasinski is going to follow-up on this concept for land left by Governor Stoughton to the town for the of the poor.
Game 2 of American Legion series tonight
The second game of the series between Milton and Norwood was rained out yesterday, 7/14. The second game is tonight in Norwood. If Milton previals, they move on, otherwise it will go to a third game to be played back in Milton at Cunningham Park. MYH board seeks support in effort by town to manage rink
In a letter to friends and parents of players Milton Youth Hockey stated their position on the Ulin Rink and asked for support in having the rink be managed by the town.
Wednesday is food day
Wednesday historically features food in a great number of the nation’s newspapers. The Globe, the Times, et al all have a food section today where they have recipes and restaurant reviews etc.

Four Milton spots make it on the state’s “1,000 Great Places”
Milton has 4 of the greatest places in Massachusetts as determined by popular vote conducted by the 1,000 Great Places Commission. It’s 5 if you count the Milton Art Museum which is temporarily in Canton. According to the Commission’s press release, “The Great Places initiative celebrates what is unique about the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, its communities, and its people. It aims to boost visitation to Massachusetts as well as give local residents the opportunity to visit known and unknown historic sites, cultural venues, and natural landscapes.” And Milton, of course, has all three.

As the 24-year-old Milton native settles into a job with Quincy District Court’s victim witness services program, he’s also preparing for a future tour of duty in Afghanistan, as an infantry lieutenant with the Marine Corps Reserve. (Read the full story here.)

Hearing: East Milton Parking Study
Henry Stein Hudson, the urban planning firm retained to evaluate the Parking Situation, will present at a hearing on Weds, 7/14 @ 7:00pm. This is part of the an ongoing effort by The East Milton Business & Citizens Advisory Comittee.
There hearing will be in the Keys Community room at the Milton Public Library.
