The Board of Selectmen had a lengthy session on 8/5 during which they heard about an hour of testimony during Citizen’s Speak from residents who voiced their concerns about the DCR’s proposed extension of the bike path / walkway from Central Avenue to Mattapan Square.
It is an especially interesting election season for the Milton Democratic Town Committee (MDTC). Not only are there some key offices up but Milton has recently become a hotbed for political candidates. Here is a quick rundown:

The construction on Adams street to replace three water main pipes will last until at least late fall or early spring, but could extend until November 2011, the Milton Department of Public Works director said. (Read the full story here.)

The parents of a Milton woman killed in a July 2008 car crash are suing The Kraft Group and the town of Foxborough, contending that security at Gillette Stadium failed to prevent ticketless underage drinkers from partying and consuming alcohol in the stadium parking lot during a rowdy annual music event before getting behind the wheel to drive home. Walter L. McDermott, who has literally been doing a lot of the heavy lifting in town, is retiring after 40 years of service. It is rumored that he can bring a fire truck back from the dead and do more with a coat hanger and duct tape than most men can do with a garage full of tools.

Two years ago, state legislators gave the go-ahead for the state to solicit private contractors in order to manage the popular, but dilapidated Ponkapoag Golf Course, designed by legendary golf architect Donald Ross. It was their hope that a new manager, in partnership with the state, could take control of the facility, known as Ponky, and restore some of its past glory. (Read the full story here.)

Late last week, police in Milton, Massachusetts say three men went to Milton to buy a television that was listed on the Internet Web site Craigslist. When they got to the house to pick up the TV, one man was dragged inside and attacked, then robbed.
