Frank thoughts on an override “showdown” and an accident

The Globe ran a story last Thursday about a “looming battle” regarding a possible Prop 2 1/2 override. The lede said that “town leaders” and the members of the Warrant Committee (WC) “may be headed for a showdown.” Let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves. The first question that might pop into your head is: Town leaders? We have town leaders? Presumably that refers to the Selectmen (BoS). Regardless, before we assume that the WC is going to invite the BoS to “take it outside,” we should review who actually does what.

Photographer McDaniel to celebrate 10 years with exhibit at MPL

The Milton Public Library will host an exhibit by local baby photographer Jessica McDaniel in the Wotiz Gallery during the month of August 2013. Ms. McDaniel started her business called “Boston Baby Photos” in May 2003, and now, 1,393 photoshoots later, she is approaching her ten year anniversary as a baby photographer.

MPD Notice: Police seek assistance with robbery suspects

Do you recognize the man or woman in these pictures. Earlier this week a home in the 200 Block of Randolph Ave was broken into. One item the suspects stole was a computer. A short time later, a man and woman appeared inside “A plus computers” on Neponset Ave in Dorchester and tried to sell the victims computer.

Mtg notes: BoS 07.24.13 (a) – FAA appeal unlikely; Curry to manage Ulin rink

The deadline to appeal the FAA’s decision to change the flights coming off runway 33L is August 3rd. In the opinion of John Flynn, Town Counsel and David Godine, Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) representative, do not advise that course of action. Godine told them that we “should give up the battle and fight the war”.

Boston police seek public assistance with murder investigation

There are two investigations underway in which the police are seeking public assistance. The Boston Police Dept  is searching for the suspects in a the death of a young woman found in Hyde Park and there is an Amber alert out of Rhode Island.

from BPD News – At approximately 4:03pm, Boston Police received a radio call for a found body. A person walking in Stony Brook Reservation in Hyde Park (District 18) found the body of a deceased adult female. The female appeared to be the victim of an assault.
