The Milton Library Foundation has announced that Tom Perrotta will be the keynote speaker at the 9th Annual Literary Gala. The gala will also shine a light on the 1st foundation honoree, Andrea Gordon.
Tom Perrotta is the renowned author of many best-selling novels including his latest work, The Leftovers, which is being developed into an HBO series. Perrotta has authored five previous work of fiction: Bad Haircut, The Wishbones, Election, and the New York Times bestselling Joe College and Little Children. Election was made into the acclaimed 1999 movie directed by Alexander Payne and starring Matthew Broderick and Reese Witherspoon. Perrotta lives in the Boston area and is involved in many charities, giving back to the community.
As the Gala’s first honoree, Andrea Gordon had the vision of a new, vibrant library for Milton. Her dedication and energy inspired all those who joined the effort to make it a reality. Through Andrea’s vision, the Milton Library has fostered a love of reading at an early age, offered access to information and digital media and inspired lifelong learning. All of this is provided free of charge thanks to the generous supporters of the library.
Chaired by Chris Kaster, this year’s Literary Gala will take place on October 24, 2013 at Lombardo’s in Randolph. Individual tickets to this event are set at $150. The gala will include, in addition to the author presentation, a raffle, dinner and live auction. This year’s Presenting Sponsor is Curry College and Blue Hills Bank is the Early Literacy Sponsor.
