MPD Notice: Police discuss residential lockdown

This afternoon, our 911 center received a call for a distraught man inside a home in Milton. The first officers on scene learned from a family member that this resident had recently been battling issues with mental health. Today, he became distraught causing fear for his family member. The officers vacated her from the home.

Milton neighbors cleared to leave homes as police standoff ends

A tense police stand-off ended peacefully shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday after a SWAT team stormed a Phyllis Lane house and removed a man who had barricaded himself inside.

Police had sealed off several streets around Phyllis Lane for several tense hours Tuesday afternoon and evening, eventually ordering nearby residents to stay inside their homes. (Read the full story here.)

Teen Summer Reading Celebration

The Teen Services department of the Milton Library will celebrate the end of summer reading with a pizza party at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 13. Summer reading participants can pick up prizes and the Young Adult Librarian will announce the winner of the grand prize drawing for a $100 Barnes and Noble gift card.

Swimmer’s body recovered from Mass. pond

Officials have recovered the body of the 32-year-old man who apparently drowned in a popular swimming area in Milton.

The man’s name has not been released. The body was pulled from Houghton’s Pond Monday night after a search by divers. (Read the full story here.)

Monday, July 22
Theft: At 5:29 p.m., police received a report of theft on Pine Grove Street. There were six unauthorized transactions on a Blue Hills Bank debit card posted on July 19 totalling about $500. (Read the full story here.)

Paul Sullivan and Scott Henderson, who were representing John Morrill who has a P&S with the Women’s Club, presented a preliminary concept for how they want to develop the club property. They want to construct 4 homes on a private way that would come off Reedsdale Road. They are seeking several waivers all of which relate to reducing zoning requirements. For example, they want to reduce the pavement width and not include sidewalks.

The Milton Animal League has kittens! Everybody loves kittens. One of the little ones, a female domestic short hair,  named Nugget, can be seen here. She would be happier in a permanent home. You can visit her and others at the Animal League at 181 Governor Stoughton Lane. They are open Mon – Fri from 1:00 – 5:00pm and Sat from 10:00 – 4:00pm.
