The Mary M.B. Wakefield Trust in partnership with Artspace Milton held a Fairy Festival last Saturday and what a day it was! Fun, wonder, and active imaginations were if full force as children of all ages decorated cookies, made crowns and toad abodes, and creating an amazing array of fairy houses on the grounds of the Wakefield Estate.
Eighteen runners participated in Milton Boot Camp’s half marathon yesterday. The runners benefited from water stations, a sag car and plenty of support along the way. See how happy they look! (please click on image for a larger view.)

The Board of Selectmen discussed the bids for purchase of the town owned portion of the Hendries property last Thursday night. It was a short conversation. Chair Keohane announced that there was one bid. It was from the Connellys, owners of the other portion of the property. Their bid was $1000.00 or $239,000 below the minimum bid put forth the selectmen in their RFP.

Attorneys for the town have asked that the Norfolk County Superior Court rule on a dispute with previous town administrator Kevin Mearn rather than push the case to a jury trial. The request for summary judgment was made in early October, but a hearing on the matter will most likely not be held for several weeks, said John Flynn, an attorney with Murphy, Hesse, Toomey, & Lehane. Two weeks ago during Citizen Speak James O’Donahue said, regarding a proposal to build a temple with access off Lodge Street:
If they jam it down our throats, we are going to hate these people for a long, long time.
At last night’s session of the Board of Selectmen, he apologized to the board and the the members of the Jewish community for that remark.
The Milton Public Schools will be hosting its own version of the popular cooking show with an upcoming “Iron Chef Jr.” competition. This event, which will be held on Monday, October 21st students to new and exciting food choices. Six teams of three elementary school students will be joined by local chefs to prepare a meal from a “secret basket” of ingredients.

This years event will feature Tom Perrotta, renowned author of many best-selling novels including his latest work,The Leftovers, which is being developed into an HBO series. This year’s gala also spotlights the Foundation’s first event honoree, Andrea Gordon, the Founder and first president of the Foundation.
The Winter Valley Resident Council is holding at Emporium todya, Saturday Oct 19, from 10 am to 2 pm. It is in KNowlton Hall at 600 Canton Ave, Milton and will feature white Elephant, Bake items, crafts, raffles, paintings, vintage pieces, and hand knit originals.
