Milton Reads kicks off its fall festivities with speaker Anthony Amore, director of security at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and the author of Stealing Rembrandts: The Untold Story of Notorious Art Heists. An art crimes expert, Mr. Amore will talk about famous heists on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 2 pm in the Keys Community Room (lower level) of the Milton Library, 476 Canton Avenue in Milton. The event is free and open to all.

DPW notice: Hazardous waste disposal day
On Saturday, September 21, 2013, the Milton Department of Public Works will hold a Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Day for Milton residents. Collection hours are from 9 a.m. to noon. No early arrivals! The collection takes place at the DPW Yard (629 Randolph Avenue), rain or shine.

The New Milton/Quincy Congregation, formerly Temple Shalom of Milton, will hold a Prospective Member Open House on Thursday, Sept. 5th, beginning with its Tashlich Service at 5:00 p.m. at Turner’s Pond on Central Avenue in Milton. Tashlich is the symbolic casting away of sins on Rosh Hashanah by throwing bread onto the water.

At the end of her career, she was Editor of the Editorial Pages of the Boston Globe where she had covered medical news, politics, presidential affairs and notably the Clinton Health Care Plan.

Milton Reads 2013: One Book, One Town, comes to a close on Saturday, October 5, with a family celebration party, at the Milton Library from 2-4pm. Eco-chef Didi Emmons and Author of “Wild Flavors” to speak at MPL
An extraordinary 70-year old female farmer, Eva Sommaripa, created a ShangriLa refuge of uncommon herbs, greens, and wild edibles. Boston chef Didi Emmons spent a year on the 200-acre farm and her book, “Wild Flavors,” captures the magic, wonder, and knowledge from her experiences.
Friday teen movie @ MPL – “Back to the Future”
On Friday, September 13 at 3 p.m., the Teen Services Department of the Milton Library will show Back to the Future (1985) for students in grades 6-12.
