Gardner Museum Director of Security to Discuss Art Heists at MPL

Milton Reads kicks off its fall festivities with speaker Anthony Amore, director of security at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and the author of Stealing Rembrandts: The Untold Story of Notorious Art Heists. An art crimes expert, Mr. Amore will talk about famous heists on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 2 pm in the Keys Community Room (lower level) of the Milton Library, 476 Canton Avenue in Milton. The event is free and open to all.

Milton Citizens Against Aviation Impact Meeting

The Milton Citizens Against Aviatin Impact (MCAAI) will be meeting on Saturday, September 7th @ 9:15 a.m. in the downstairs conference room at the Milton Public Library. All are invited and encouraged to come with suggestions.

DPW notice: Hazardous waste disposal day

On Saturday, September 21, 2013, the Milton Department of Public Works will hold a Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Day for Milton residents. Collection hours are from 9 a.m. to noon. No early arrivals! The collection takes place at the DPW Yard (629 Randolph Avenue), rain or shine.

ReminderMilton/Quincy Cong. Rosh Hashanah Open House

The New Milton/Quincy Congregation, formerly Temple Shalom of Milton, will hold a Prospective Member Open House on Thursday, Sept. 5th, beginning with its Tashlich Service at 5:00 p.m. at Turner’s Pond on Central Avenue in Milton. Tashlich is the symbolic casting away of sins on Rosh Hashanah by throwing bread onto the water. 

Milton Reads 2013, Closing Celebration at the Library

Milton Reads 2013: One Book, One Town, comes to a close on Saturday, October 5, with a family celebration party, at the Milton Library from 2-4pm. The Friends of the Milton Public Library, sponsors for the program, want to thank the community for reading The Gardner Heist, by Ulrich Boser, and for participating in the many events hosted over the summer and early fall.

After 20 years as Milton American Baseball’s President Kevin Berry is stepping down. Mr. Berry has been a longtime fixture in Milton Baseball both coaching and overseeing the American League players from age 4 through 12.

Friday teen movie @ MPL – “Back to the Future”

On Friday, September 13 at 3 p.m., the Teen Services Department of the Milton Library will show Back to the Future (1985) for students in grades 6-12. Admission is free and refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Milton Public Library. The library is located at 476 Canton Ave., Milton, MA.
