ReminderMilton/Quincy Cong. Rosh Hashanah Open House

The New Milton/Quincy Congregation, formerly Temple Shalom of Milton, will hold a Prospective Member Open House on Thursday, Sept. 5th, beginning with its Tashlich Service at 5:00 p.m. at Turner’s Pond on Central Avenue in Milton. Tashlich is the symbolic casting away of sins on Rosh Hashanah by throwing bread onto the water.  All interested families in the South Shore and Greater Boston area are invited to attend, and can get more information by emailing or calling the congregation office at 617-698-3394.

Following the short Tashlich service, visitors are invited to a Mincha (afternoon) service and Dairy Pot Luck Dinner at a nearby congregant’s home, where they will get to meet Rabbi Alfred Benjamin and Education Director Nancy Mollitor, learn about the congregation’s programs and activities, and obtain membership information.  New visitors who call ahead and attend the Open House may receive complimentary seats for one High Holiday service.

The New Milton/Quincy Congregation is also accepting registrations to its Rabbi Jerome Weistrop Religious School, which meets on Sunday mornings and Tuesday afternoons.  Under the leadership of Education Director Nancy Mollitor, the school has small class sizes and a very active and innovative curriculum, including unique holiday celebrations, pre-school-age Story Hour, Family Learner’s services, field trips, Bar/Bat Mitzvah classes, teenage discussion groups with Rabbi Benjamin, Jewish film appreciation, and Holiday Family Activity days.  The school is also a partner in the Passport to Israel Program, which helps fund teen trips to Israel.  For religious school information, call the school office at 617-698-3395.

The New Milton/Quincy Congregation is an egalitarian congregation which welcomes inter-married families.  Its worship services currently are at the Great Hall Sanctuary in the First Congregational Church, 495 Canton Avenue.  For information about membership or programs, please call the synagogue office at 617-698-3394, Email office@TempleShalomOnline.org or visitwww.TempleShalomOnline.org.
