Teen cooking class with Chef Brian Sway

On August 7 from 6-8 p.m., the Milton Public Library is hosting a cooking class with Chef Brian Sway. Students who will enter grades 6-12 in the fall are invited to join area chef Brian Sway for a menu of snacks and recipes designed for teens.

Take a tour of Neponset projects

NepRWA is going on a tour of the Neponset to review projects and you are invited. Join them as they visit:

  • A rain garden in Milton, to learn from Environmental Scientist Bill Guenther about cleaning up and recharging stormwater.

Brookwood Farm workshop on how to make jam

Brookwood Community Farm is happy to present another workshop in our Farm-to-Table series. Bonnie Shershow of Bonnie’s Jams is back! Celebrate the bounty of summer with some all-natural jam. This year, Bonnie will teach you how to make simple and delicious raspberry jam. All participants will learn some new skills and get the chance to take a jar home.

Milton Library Anime & Manga Club for teens

Calling all teen anime and manga fans! On Tuesday, July 31, from 6-7:30 p.m., join other fans of Japanese art and animation at the Milton Public Library. We’ll hang out, talk anime, and watch manga. The Library will provide art supplies and Japanese snacks!

Houghton’s Pond Family Fishing Festival

This family-friendly event will be at Houghton’s Pond at the Blue Hills Reservation. It will be held from 10:00 – 2:30pm in cooperation with DCR’s Blue Hills Reservation. Angler Education Program volunteers will be on hand to help novices cast a line, learn about fish in our waters, safety, ethics, and fishing equipment. If you have fishing equipment, bring it along. A limited quantity of fishing equipment and bait will be available. Contact the Blue Hills Reservation at (617) 698-1802.

The Dark Knight at the Milton Public Library

In advance of the July 20th release of The Dark Knight Rises, third Batman film by director Christopher Nolan, the Milton Public Library’s Teen Services department will host a screening of The Dark Knight. Students entering grades 6-12 are invited to join us . . .

Own the night . . . Write!

Hey, aspiring teen writers! Is there a zombie story you’re just dying to write? Maybe vampires are more to your taste! On Tuesday, July 24 at 4 p.m., students entering grades 6-12 are invited to join storyteller Alicia Quintano at the Milton Public Library for a one hour writing workshop . . .

Teen Reader’s Cafe

As part of the teen summer reading program, Own the Night, the Milton Public Library will host a Reader’s Café on July 10 from 6-7 p.m. Students in entering grades 6-12 in the fall are invited for an hour of pizza, snacks, and good books with the library’s Young Adult Librarian, Emily Calkins.
