Milton Reads celebrates town wide read with ice cream social

On Thursday, July 25 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm Milton Reads will host a free ice cream social at the Milton Public Library at 476 Canton Avenue in Milton. Available for sale will be discounted copies of the Milton Reads’ 2013 book selection, The Gardner Heist: The True Story of the World’s Largest Unsolved Art Theft by Ulrich Boser. 

Trailside Museum and MECA host Story Walk

We are excited to, once again, bring the StoryWalk® Project to Milton from 7/28 – 8/4! Come enjoy this week-long, outdoor, rain or shine, free event. Visit the Trailside Museum and enjoy a story posted along the way as you walk around their grounds. This is a terrific opportunity to enjoy a wonderful children’s book while taking a healthy walk.

Underground Music Event for Teens

On Tuesday, July 23, at 6:30 p.m., the Teen Services department of the Milton Library is hosting a music event for teens and preteens. Teens are invited to come with a song of their favorite less-than-well-known band. Attendees will share their songs and create a playlist of underground music. Librarians will also discuss the best smartphone and tablet apps for listening to music.

Friends of the Blue Hills and DCR Sponsor Cool Summer Fest at Houghton’s Pond

Celebrate summer! Enjoy free wet and wild fun for the whole family at the Cool Summer Fest on Saturday, July 27, from 10 am-3 p.m. The heat is on at Houghton’s Pond, but visitors will stay cool with wacky water games, music and family entertainment, inflatable obstacle course, make and take kids crafts, live wildlife from Trailside Museum, pond exploration, free fishing fun with Mass Wildlife and more!

Meme Yourself! for Teens

Twitter, Tumblr, and Instagram are good, but they’re better with memes! On July 30 at 6:30 p.m., teens and pre-teens are invited to Meme Yourself at the Milton Public Library. Try vadering, hadokening, or do a bookface (or a series!) Come with friends and put them inside your phone, and do it all with snacks on the side.

Rep. Walter Timilty Hosts Office Hours at Town Hall

Representative Walter Timilty (D – Milton) invites Milton residents to meet with him during his local office hours on Tuesday, July 23rd. They will be held in the Baker Conference Room of the Milton Town Hall from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm. No appointments are required.

Milton Library Hosts Cupcake Decorating Contest for Teens

Bring your creativity and frosting skills to the library on Tuesday, July 16 at 6:30 p.m. for a cupcake decorating contest! Participants will create (and eat!) cupcakes in honor of this year’s summer reading theme, Beneath the Surface. Cupcake decorators will vote on awards, including for Best Overall, Most Creative Use of Materials, Best Interpretation of Theme, and more.
