The Jackie Robinson Story” at the MPL

Chadwick Boseman and Harrison Ford star in “the movie, “42: The Jackie Robinson Story” that will run on Monday, January 27 downstairs at the Milton Public Library, 476 Canton Avenue beginning at 6:30 p.m. The free event, sponsored by the Friends of the Milton Library, is open to the public.

Reminder tonight: Library Mobster Film Series Kicks off with Brinks Book Discussion

It was called the “crime of the century.” They were the robbers that everyone loved. Since the heist in 1950, there have been many stories and legends about the Brinks Robbery. Join Milton Public Library Director Will Adamczyk for a discussion of Stephanie Schorow’s book, The Crime of the Century: How the Brinks Robbers Stole Millions and the Hearts of Boston.

Reminder: Milton Public Library to Host Holiday Jazz Concert

The Milton Public Library will host jazz vocalist Peter Smith and his band on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 2 PM for a free holiday concert. The Peter Smith Trio, featuring Yas Ishibashi on keyboards and Ralph Pepe on acoustic bass, will present a wonderful program of songs from the Great American Songbook plus some fun holiday tunes. Front-man Smith is equally adept at the swinging standards as he is delivering a soft ballad.

Talk: “Inside the Trial Process” at Beth Shalom

Trial attorney Russ Pollock will be the guest speaker at the next Beth Shalom of the Blue Hills Brunch Speaker Series on Sunday, Dec. 15th, at the Pierce Middle School in Milton. His topic will be “Voir Dire and Trial: The Anatomy of Jury Selection and the Trial Process.” The brunch and talk are open to the public.

Wotiz Gallery to show work of artist Sue Hoy

Meet Rodriguez—and his fans—at the screening of the film, Searching for Sugar Man at the Milton Public Library, Thursday, November 14, at 6:30pm. Two record producers hear Rodriguez in a 1960’s night club in Detroit and immediately sign him to a recording contract, confident that he’s going to be America’s next and biggest rock icon.
