During the month of December, the Milton Public Library will host local painter and art teacher, Sue Hoy, in the Wotiz Gallery. Ms. Hoy’s inspiration comes from her family and the endless beauty of New England. Choosing subjects that capture attention and emotion, Sue strives to simplify shape and color to reflect the essence of her subject. Her voyage towards simplicity, versus over-working and illustrating with paint, is ongoing. She teaches art classes at Milton Art Center and Quincy Art Center and is a member of the Dedham Square Artists Guild. Her work is also currently on display at Abby Park Restaurant in Milton. She says: “As an artist, I am trying to capture the spirit of my subject by reducing details and concentrating on light and shape. My paintings are rich in color and bold in brushwork. I am inspired by nature’s beauty and the chance to interpret it in simple, yet compelling ways.”
There will be an open reception for this exhibit on Thursday evening, December 12th from 6 to 8 PM in the gallery. For more information, contact Jean Hlady, Adult Services Librarian, at (617) 698-5757. Please come and view this lovely display!
