B&N supports MHS library and you can too!

Screen Shot 2015-05-12 at 8.19.41 AMIn an effort to raise funds for their library, Milton High School is working together with Barnes & Noble Booksellers to host a bookfair at the Barnes & Noble Braintree store.

On Thursday, June 11th, Barnes & Noble will contribute a percentage of every sale, made with a special bookfair voucher, to the Milton High School Library.

Summer Kick-Off Dance Party

Screen Shot 2015-05-12 at 8.39.13 AMGirl Scout Troop 63081 is having a Summer Kick-Off Dance Party on Friday, May 29th from 6:30-8:30pm at Cunningham Hall. This event is for girls grades 3-5. The cost is $10 per girl. This is a drop off event. There will be door prizes and refreshments for $1 each. This event will help fund an educational field trip to Europe.

Brownie Scout Troop 75351 makes donation to Animal Shelter

Screen Shot 2015-05-13 at 5.53.31 AMBrownie Scout Troop 75351, represented by Ida and Harper Zoll, presented a check for $175 to Milton Animal League President Alyssa Cook to support the Milton Animal Shelter.  The troop members went door to door to collect money to help homeless animals.

Calling all book lovers! Coming off of a successful fourth edition of Milton Reads, featuring The Boys in the Boat, we are now looking to increase community involvement. You can help by joining the committee or nominating a book for Milton Reads 2016.

FAA and Massport Webinar

The FAA/Massport and Logan Airport Citizen’s Advisory Committee (CAC) is holding a Webinar on Monday, May 18, 6-8pm on two proposed procedures to Runway 4L arrivals to Boston- Logan International Airport.  The procedures involve RNAV (concentrated flight paths) approaches.  One is an RNAV Visual Approach and the other is an RNAV GPS Instrument Approach.

2015 Annual Town Meeting – Day 3: Articles 31-37 pass; ~$41 million appropriated for schools; Savings plan to go to voters

At the end of Day 2 the Town Moderator expressed the hope that Town Meeting would wrap up last Thursday. That proved to be a bit optimistic. Two articles took up substantial amounts of time: Article 31 – the school appropriation and Article 37 which would petition the General Court to enable the town to put out a ballot question seeking approval to establish a special purpose stabilization fund for replacement or renovation of the fire stations and DPW yard.
