Wakefield Estate’s 2015 Stone Soup and Speaker Series begins 1/29 – This year’s theme: Profiles of Great Trees

This month, the Wakefield Estate kicks off its 2015 Stone Soup and Speakers Series on Thursday, January 29th with “Portrait of the Eastern White Pine.” The theme for this year’s series is “Profiles of Great Trees of the Wakefield Estate,” offering a fun look at some of the interesting facts and history about some of the very special tree species in the estate’s collection.

BOS Fairskies meeting

The next meeting of the Bos Fairskies will be at Winter Valley in Building 3 (2nd building on the right as you come up the main drive). Parking is across the street along the curb. Do Not park in the numbered spaces. Those are for residents only. The address is 600 Canton Ave. All our welcome.

Protests on I-93 Cause Major Traffic Delays in Milton and Medford

Update 11:16 – THe Milton Police Department is reporting that people are in custody and I93 north bound is now clear.

Protesters shut down I-93 Northbound at East Milton Square and I-93 Southbound in the Medford-Somerville area during the Thursday morning commute causing major traffic backups, according to Massachusetts State police. (Read the full story here.)

Mtg notes: Selectmen 01.13.15 – FAA litigation discussion; Police Chief’s quarterly report; and budget discussion deferred

At last night’s meeting of the Board of Selectmen John Flynn, Town Counsel ixnayed any litigation against the FAA for time being, the Police Chief gave his quarterly report (including updated crime data and a citizen complaint rebuttal), the discussion of FY16 budget was deferred, and a couple citizens weighed in with their thoughts on civic engagement and airplane noise.

Bred Gourmet Burgers has opened

Information is a bit scant but I beleive they are open from noon until 7:00. I have no idea how the burgers taste but the pictures sure look good. It is located where Mrs. Jones used to be on Dorchester Avenue.
