MHS Students Travel to DC for Debate Tournament

Screen Shot 2015-01-15 at 1.37.31 PMFour Milton High School upperclassmen travelled to Fairfax, Virginia recently to compete in the George Mason University High School Debate Tournament.

Seniors Olivia Erickson and Anna Lamb, Juniors Sindhu Banerjee and Lydia Horan, along with Milton High School teacher and debate coach Kacy Dotoli made the trip to George Mason University.

One of Milton’s teams, Lydia Horan and Sindhu Banerjee, made it to the quarter finals, earning sixth place overall. The other team of Olivia Erickson and Anna Lamb finished in 9th place overall. More than 30 teams competed in this two-day tournament.
The group was able to squeeze in a bit of sightseeing with an evening tour of Washington, D.C and a tour of George Mason University.

“I could not have asked for a better, more mature, group of students to travel with,” said Ms. Dotoli. “My experience this weekend was no less than amazing, and these students continue to impress me with each tournament they compete in.”

This tournament featured Lincoln-Douglas, Public Forum, Junior Varsity and Varsity Cross-Examination Policy Debate on both Friday & Saturday.
