For his community service project, Sean Bentley, an incoming freshman at Milton High, is collecting backpacks and school supplies for the 500 children who use the Interfaith Social Services (ISS) food pantry in Quincy. This is one of the largest pantries in Greater Boston. ISS has been serving the entire South Shore since 1947 and last year helped more than 20,000 families.

Public demonstration of Emergency Communications at the Baron Hugo Gazebo
As Part of emergency preparedness the Mystic Valley Amateur Radio Group (MVARG) and the Milton Auxiliary Fire Department will l be participating in amateur radio field day to e held June 28th and 29th at the Baron Hugo Gazebo.
During this event many amateur Radio Operators (HAMS) throughout the United States and Canada test emergency operations under field conditions.
Milton Library Teen Book Club Announces July Selection
The Milton Public Library’s teen book club has selected Beauty Queens by Libba Bray as its July pick. “When a plane crash strands thirteen teen beauty contestants on a mysterious island, they struggle to survive, to get along with one another, to combat the island’s other diabolical occupants, and to learn their dance numbers in case they are rescued in them for the competition.”

Dogs put on a show at Dogwood Days in Milton

Fourteen dogs competed in the second annual “Dogs and Dogwood Days” dog show at the Wakefield Estate in Milton. The Kousa dogwoods were in full bloom and the dogs all won a prize. (Read the full story here.)
