For his community service project, Sean Bentley, an incoming freshman at Milton High, is collecting backpacks and school supplies for the 500 children who use the Interfaith Social Services (ISS) food pantry in Quincy. This is one of the largest pantries in Greater Boston. ISS has been serving the entire South Shore since 1947 and last year helped more than 20,000 families.
A drop-off box for donations for the drive is at the Milton Public Library through Friday, July 25. Backpacks in good or new condition are gratefully accepted, along with loose leaf paper, notebooks, folders with pockets, pencils, pens, erasers, glue sticks, markers, safety scissors, crayons, index cards, spare calculators, and other supplies. The backpacks and supplies will be distributed to children served by ISS as they come to the food pantry with their families beginning August 1.
If you would prefer to make a monetary donation for ISS to purchase backpacks and supplies or if you have any questions, please contact Sean at sirbentley2@gmail.com. For more information about ISS, please visit www.interfaithsocialservices.org.
Thank you so much for your generosity to our neighbors.
