State Representative Walter F. Timilty, a member of the budget –writing House Ways and Means Committee, has announced that House Bill 4191, “An act granting an additional license for the sale of alcoholic beverages in the town of Milton,” has been passed to be engrossed in the House of Representatives. As the lead sponsor of this home-rule petition, Timilty filed this legislation in the House of Representatives, with Senator Brian A. Joyce serving as a co-sponsor.
Looking for a fun place to read with your preschooler this summer? As part of an Early Literacy Advancement Initiative, the Milton Public Schools, the Milton Public Library and Milton Early Childhood Alliance are teaming up to offer “Summertime Stories for Preschoolers” at two locations this summer.
In mid-July Dr. Deborah Walters, a 63-year-old grandmother, launched her solo kayak trip, 2,500 miles from Maine to Guatemala. Ms. Walters is raising awareness for Safe Passage, an education program that has changed the lives of the children and families who live within the teeming garbage dumps of Guatemala City.
Sleuth, an Academy nominated film, will play in the Milton Reads series on Tuesday, August 5. The free film will air at 6:30 p.m. in the Keys Community Room (lower level) of the Milton Library, 476 Canton Avenue in Milton. This free event is sponsored by the Friends of the Milton Library and is part of the Milton Reads special events.
