Milton resident and veteran runs to remember and honor fellow soldiers

James Palmer of Milton, a veteran of the Army Rangers, participated along with his fiance Courtney Clayton (also of Milton) in the Run for Home Base. The Home Base program was started 5 years ago by Red Sox owner Tom Werner in association with MGH and New Balance. They work supports veterans suffering from traumatic brain injury (TBI) and post traumatic stress disorders.
Bill to abet redevelopment of Hendries goes to Governor for signature

The House and Senate passed bill H. 4332 which will allow the town to exchange the portion of Hendries property it owns in exchange for demolition of its portion of the building and an agreement to build a mixed use development. The bill passed before the legislature’s formal session ended last night. Two bills, S. 2166 and H. 4191, which would allow the town to award liquor licenses for restuarants apparently did not.
Steel & Rye receives Best of Boston award
Steel & Rye, the latest addition to Milton’s restaurant scene, just received a nice feather in its cap: Best Restaurant, General Excellence, South from Boston Magazine which has announced its 2014 Best of Boston Awards. They call out Steel & Rye for its “impeccable” service. Congratulations!

Milton residents and authors Bill Nesto and Fran Di Savino won the 2013 International Andre Simon Award for their book The World of Sicilian Wines. The authors spoke this past year at the Milton Public Library.

BoA tees up Hendries 40B; traffic, parking top resident concerns

Last Thursday in a crowded Blute Conference Room the Milton Board of Appeals opened a hearing on the comprehensive permit filed by Carrick Realty Trust to develop an affordable apartment building at the site of the Hendries plant at Eliot Street and Central Ave under Massachusetts General Law 40B.
