Director cleared to realign operations at DPW

The Board of Selectmen and the Personnel Board have approved changes to the operation of Milton’s Department of Public Works, resulting in a realignment of managers, a temporary administrative position being made a permanent one, and classifications of interns.  (Read the full story here.)

The Milton Public School bands will be performing this Tuesday, March 22nd at Milton High at 7:00pm. Bands from all the schools, elementary through high school will be on stage. Don’t miss it!

Patrick-Murray calling for volunteers for annual DCR park clean-up

The Department of Conservation and Recreation’s (DCR) fifth annual Park Serve Day will be on Saturday, April 16, in state parks and beaches across the Commonwealth. Since 2007, thousands of volunteers have participated in dozens of projects each spring, including picking up litter along ocean beaches, clearing debris from hiking trails, painting benches, and planting trees and flowers at picnic areas.

Mtg notes: Selectmen 03.17.11 – MWRA traffic woes this summer; another restaurant in the works

During their 3/17 session the Board of Selectmen heard received an update from the MWRA on the status of water main work. The good news is the work from Adams to Squantum is done and they will be repaving the road. The bad news is that there is plenty of work left to do going north on Adams through Milton Village, Lower Mills, and stretching west on Washington and River Streets as well as east on Adams past the Dunkin Donuts. “It won’t be pretty,” according to MWRA representative Mike Hornbrook.

Rotary Club of Milton to host Information Night

The Rotary Club of Milton is hosting an information night at the Milton Public Library. All are invited to learn about the Rotary, its mission, and activities. In an open letter to the community they note, “We dare to dream big and we do big things!”
