MPS appoint Dr. Joseph Arangio interim principal of Milton High

release from Milton Public Schools

Dr. Arangio previously served as Principal of Milton High School from 1997 to 2002. His career highlights include high school principalships in West Hartford, Connecticut; McLean, Virginia and at Boston Technical High School. In addition, Dr. Arangio has served on the Massachusetts Board of Education, the Harvard University Graduate School of Education, and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.

Mtg notes: Plan’g Brd 05.12.11 – PB close to approving 3 developments; but so far, no cigar

Last Thursday the Planning Board discussed three ongoing developments in Milton: 36 Central Ave, 310 Granite Ave, and 683-685 Brush Hill Road.

Paul Sullivan, who is representing Oranamore the developer of 36 Central Ave before the Planning Board, reviewed modifications that were being considered. In what is becoming a municipal version of From Here to Eternity Mr. Sullivan gave an update on changes.

A pink wave flows through Milton

Yay walkers!

Yesterday hundreds (thousands?) of people walked through Milton in support of defeating breast cancer and those lost or in recovery. This was the 9th annual walk here in Boston. And as is his tradition, Joe Debesse and his family supplied ice pops. “I look forward to you every year!” one walker exclaimed. The hula girls were back at  Shields Park dancing in encouragement. Today is National Police Memorial Day

The Milton Police Department note that today, Sunday May 15th, is National Police Memorial Day. Last year (2010) was a very deadly year for law enforcement. All of this week is dedicated to the men and women who protect our freedom each day. Theirs is a dangerous profession. Please join with us in recognizing the sacrifice of the nearly 15,000 policeofficers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in America for your freedom. Town Plans 350th Celebration – Seeks Help

Milton’s 350th Anniversary Committee is planning a year-long celebration in 2012.

Much help will be needed organizing events, along with donations, sponsorships and ideas. The committee began meeting on a twice a month schedule in March.

Final Hearing on East Milton Traffic Study scheduled

On Wednesday, May 18, 2011, the Town of Milton will hold the last of a series of three community meetings associated with the East Milton Square Parking and Access Study. The public meeting, which will take place at Cunningham Hall from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., will provide an important opportunity for Milton residents and business owners to voice their opinions on how to enhance East Milton Square’s character as one of Milton’s business districts, and to provide their input on the report the Business and Citizens’ Advisory Committee (BCAC) will submit to the Board of Selectmen at the end of the month. Cunningham Hall is located at 75 Edge Hill Road in Milton.
