I am pleased to announce that I am running for a position as Milton Library Trustee. My love of books and my staunch belief that public libraries are an essential element of communities power my commitment to our own library. With a family history in Milton going back to my grandparents raising their family in a home off of Edge Hill Road, I was delighted to be able to get back to my roots, relocating to Milton last year. The earnest welcomes I have received every day since are consistent examples of what a wonderful community we have here and compelled me to seek out a way to serve our town.
As a Library Trustee I will work to support and extend the Library’s mission of fostering a love and appreciation of reading. As a writer myself, I credit my love of reading with feeding my own curiosity and creativity. From the Library’s outreach work to young, new readers in schools to innovative programs like Milton Reads, sponsored by the Friends of the Milton Public Library, I hope to meaningfully contribute to this important resource for Milton.
The Public Library faces several important issues such as the care and maintenance of the building and grounds, to the need for more staff working at the Library, as well as traffic and parking at the Library. I hold two Master’s Degrees, one from Boston University and another from the University of London in financial economics, and, working with other members of the board, I will apply this education to work to adequately address the needs of the Public Library and the community. Know that if you choose to honor me with your vote in the upcoming election, that I will hold your trust sacred and represent your voice to the library, as well as the voice of library to the public. Thank you for considering my candidacy to become your next Library Trustee, and I appreciate receiving one of your three votes.
