Becky Padera pumped up the volume in her bid to be elected to the school Committee yesterday afternoon with a campaign kick off fundraiser hosted by the O’Keefe family. Ms. Padera was appointed to the school committee to serve out the term of Denis Keohane who was elected to the Board of Selectmen last April.

When the clock struck 5:00 yesterday afternoon the following candidates had submitted their nomination papers. These papers are being reviewed by the Town Clerk’s office and if signatures are in order (candidates for town wide office require 50 signatures) they will be on the ballot for the election on April 30. There were some surprises.

My name is Becky Padera, and I am asking for your support in the upcoming Milton School Committee election. For the past year, I have been serving as an interim member on the School Committee, having been hand-picked out of a large pool of candidates to fill an open seat.
Bob Sweeney to run for re-election as Selectman

At a recent gathering of supporters, Bob Sweeney announced that he is a candidate for re-election as Selectman. Bob resides at 156 Whittier Road with his wife, Gert, and eight year old daughter, Christina, who is a second grader in the Milton Public Schools. He is a lifelong Milton resident who grew up in East Milton on Governors Road. Bob is a graduate of Saint Agatha’s Grammar School and Milton High School.

My wife Marianne and I live on Fairbanks Road with our two daughters – Melina, who is four years old and Alyssa, who is two. We moved to Milton nearly eight years ago because of all the wonderful things that this Town has to offer – great neighborhoods, a strong public school system, and a diverse community active in sports and the arts.

Nomination papers for the April 30 town election are available, and a potential race for selectman is taking shape.
Selectman Robert Sweeney and former warrant committee Chairwoman Kathleen Conlon took out papers for a seat on the board of selectmen Monday, the first day the documents became available, Town Clerk Susan Galvin said. (Read the full story here.)
