It’s been more than a year since developer Steve Connelly took down the 200-year-old oak tree in front of the long-vacant Hendrie’s ice cream factory on Eliot Street, saying it was too decayed to survive construction on the site. (Read the full story here.)
Mr. Connelly, developer of the Hendries property was not present at the most recent hearing that took place last Thursday (4/12) but his voice was still heard. In a series of emails to select members of the Planning Board Mr. Connelly took issue with Planning Board member Pete Jackson, members of the public who have criticized the proposal, and the process itself.
Connelly Construction, the firm redeveveloping the Hendries property, has retained Warren Daniel as architect for a new mixed use structure. Following are two of Mr. Daniel’s preliminary renderings.
The proposal is currently being held up while the Plannng Board and developer negotiate whether or not a large black oak that sits on the property should be factored into the development. (View related posts here.)
