Curry College wins bid to manage the Ulin Rink

Thursday night the Board of Selectmen voted to award Curry College the opportunity to manage the Ulin Rink. An agreement needs to be drafted and signed before they will officially assume day to day responsibility for the rink. Selectmen hope to see open September 15th.

The bids are in and only two organizations are interested in managing the Ulin Rink. They are Curry College and the Ulin Rink management Corporation. Both are non-profit entities.

Town awarded 5 year permit for Ulin Rink from the DCR

Yesterday afternoon Marion McEttrick, Chairman of the Board of Selectmen, along with Town Administrator Kevin Mearn and Planning Director Bill Clark met with senior DCR staff to discuss Milton’s response to an RFP to grant a 5 year permit to manage the Ulin Rink. It has been a long time coming. The DCR granted Milton 5 extensions to the respond to the RFP which was issued in January of this year.

I heard with dismay your comments at the Milton Board of Selectmen Meeting on the subject of the Ulin Rink. You stated, and Representative Scaccia agreed, that you would not support Senator Joyce’s 25 year lease because it could lead to “privatization” of the rink.
