School budget requires 20.7 FTE staff cut to meet WC request

Superintendent Gormley and her leadership team have identified the cuts required to meet the Warrant Committee’s budget request for a budget that is $1.5 million over FY13 level funded and has been presenting those to PTOs in town. This budget will require cutting 20.7 full time equivalents from the payroll.

Change in Principalship at Glover Elementary

Drew Echelson is leaving Glover Elementary School. Mr. Echelson was hired as an interim principal at Glover while Stephanie Nephew, the principal, was out on maternity leave. Ms. Nephew recently returned to Glover and the two have been co-principals.

“Stay in Place” ordered at Milton High this afternoon

Milton High was ordered to “Stay in Place” this afternoon after a student brought a suspicious object to the attention of school authorities. The object appeared to be a shell casing. The student found the object on the floor of a classroom and went to the front office at about 11:20PM.This prompted a call to the Milton Police and an investigation was initiated.
Update: Milton High “Stay in place”
Milton High was put into “Stay in Place” status this afternoon. According to an email from Principal Jette sent to parents at 1:45 this afternoon all students are safe and accounted for. All students are required to stay in their classrooms with exception of athletes who have a schedulde sporting event. No one can enter or leave. Vehicles are not being permitted to enter the campus until the Milton Police have finished investigating the school.
Linda Dorcena Forry to run for state Senate
There is more political sea change possible for Milton as one of its current state reps has announced a bid for the MA state Senate seat vacated by Jack Hart. Linda Dorcena Forry who represents the west side of Milton is in the running according to a report in today’s Globe. You can find the story here.
