Notice: Conlon suspends campaign sign holding

In a notice to supporters the Conlon campaign has suspended campaign sign holding until further notice in light of Monday’s tragic events. Ms. Conlon states, “We have chosen to suspend all sign holding until further notice during this time of mourning. Our hearts are with all those who have been touched by this tragedy.”

Milton, the marathon, and last night’s Bruins game

We are still recovering. Last night I hosted a program with Mary Gormley, MPS Superintendent, Brian Powers Glover Adjustment Counselor, Kristan Bagley-Jones, School Committee, and Dr Atilla Ceranoglu, child psychiatrist from Mass General. We had a conversation on how to discuss tragedy with children. It will be rebroadcast on Milton Cable. Dr. Cerangolu had reached out the Superintendent who in turn convened the show.

Superintendent Gormley and Dr. T. Atilla Ceranoglu on talking to children about tragedy tonight on MATV

MyTownMatters will be hosting a discussion this evening on MATV with Superintendent Gormley, SC Member Kristen Bagley-Jones, Glover adjustment counselor Brian Powers and child and adolescent psychiatrist Dr. T. Atilla Ceranoglu regarding how to discuss the marathon tragedy with children and support services at the Milton Public Schools. Dr. Ceranoglu, who reached out the leadership team at the schools, is affiliated with Mass General Hospital and a resident of Milton.

Plan’g Brd roundup: Squiggle or no squiggle PB approves Hillside ANR; 40B discussion, 17 Canton Ave

At their meeting on March 21 the Planning Board resumed their discussion of an ANR lot on Hillside Street. ANR is an acronym for “approval not required.” However, in this case, some form of approval is required, which helps to explain all the lawyers. It was strongly indicated at a previous session by the attorneys involved that either way the board’s decision would be appealed.

Vigil held at Gazebo

A vigil was held last night at the Baron Hugo Gazebo at Town Hall. The Enterprise News reports that “The Rev. Parisa Parsa of First Parish Church in Milton said the gathering was a ‘symbol of unity’ to lift the spirits of the victims of the attack and their loved ones. In these times of fear and grief, ‘our ability to stay connected is the only thing that will save us,’ she said.”

Public Health Notice: Notice of Aerial Mosquito Larval Control Application

The Milton Board of Health would like to advise residents that the Norfolk County Mosquito Control Project (NCMCP) will be conducting helicopter applications of biological larvicide to control mosquito larvae as part of their comprehensive mosquito control program. The applications will be conducted over specific large wetlands in 24 communities including the Town of Milton through April 26, 2013. Applications may continue beyond this date weather dependent.

The Milton Players have a new home and look forward to a new season – Yay!!

The Milton Players, who are losing their home of 80 years due to the expected purchase and razing of the Milton Woman’s Club, have found a new home in partnership with the Massachusetts Hospital School, a healthcare facility providing care to children and young adults who have severe and/or multiple disabilities.
