Art: A fantastic Unicorn in a magical place

This is the second is a series of art works from students of FAVA (The Friends and Advocates for the Visual Arts). This week’s work is a mixed media work of clay, watercolor, and pastel that was done by Aurora Buchau, a Glover Kindergarten student. She participated in a FAVA Fables Folktales and Mythical Creatures Workshop.

Ms. Buchau has this to say about her work, ” It is a unicorn with a long, long horn.  She is walking around in a magical place.”  Note all the stars, rainbows and flowers.

The children’s author, Marianna Mayer, in her book The Unicorn and the Lake said, “”The unicorn is the only fabulous beast that does not seem to have been conceived out of human fears. In even the earliest references he is fierce yet good, selfless yet solitary, but always mysteriously beautiful. ”  Nice job Aurora.

FAVA is offering summer workshops. You can learn more about them here.  (To view previously featured work, please click on the FAVA art tag below).
