Fuller Village welcomes Curry College Professor Robert MacDougall, associate professor of communication and media studies on Tuesday, June 8th at 2:00pm in the Function Room at 1372 Brush Hill Rd. The public is invited to attend.
Dr. MacDougall’s research centers around the social, political and cognitive roles communication media have played throughout history. He teaches courses with a special focus on the progressive use of the Internet as a newsgathering apparatus, a venue for social interaction in general and political life in particular. Some of his recent work includes Cultural Techniques: making meaning at the interface of oral and electronic culture, a study of Mohawk Indians email use published in 2009 by Verlag. A 2008 journal article investigates the social, educational and political significance of Google, Yahoo and other search engine technology. Dr. MacDougall is currently writing about a biological approach to understanding human technology interfaces.
